Doberman ResQ ADOPTED - Tanner

Black & Tan male

(11/16/08) Tanner: Tanner was rescued from sure death at a Riverside shelter thanks to the efforts of Joanne. He was certainly a sweet boy but too rough for cats and most people who initially were interested in him had either cats or small dogs who would not have done well with Tanner. Thankfully Bryan worked regularly with Tanner, taking him through his Good Canine Citizen certification and making him a much better Doberman. Suddenly in November we had several families interested in Tanner after weeks of no interest. The family first in line for Tanner, Noor and Rami, had a few problems with their fence which had to be repaired before he could be adopted and they went out that very day to correct all the problems. Angie did another home inspection and everything was perfect, including this family's desire to add Tanner to their family. We're sure this will work out great. We'll have photos soon.

Original Posting:

(10/11/08) Tanner: A quick update on Tanner: he's been going through his K9 Good Citizen training and is a star. He's a terrific dog and may do well with a submissive female. Definitely no cats with this boy though. He's quick to learn and would be your best friend in a heartbeat. He knows sit, down very well and is working on stay and wait. Very smart boy and has been getting regular one-on-one training thanks to Bryan, a dedicated rescue volunteer.

(9/6/08) Tanner: A really sweet black & tan male rescued from the Riverside shelter. Thanks to Joanne of AztecDPC for making the very long trek to Riverside and then to El Cajon to save this young boy's life. He would have be euthanized except for her extraordinary efforts. We have little solid information on this boy other than he's shy but not aggressive. Due to the hard economic times and the burgeoning kennel population dogs cannot be kept long and he was very much at risk. He showed no aggression when he arrived and with tail wagging, he was everyone's friend. A little confused when fed from a small bowl but "got it" when food was placed in a large bowl. He's very sweet and friendly, no food aggression that could be seen. We think Tanner will do best as an only pet.
