What To Avoid

It's really surprising how many human foods are toxic to our Dobermans (and all dogs for that matter). Things we don't often think about, which are often out and available - like chocolates in a dish, broccoli on the table, our evening beer and even grapes. The toxicity and danger varies depending on the food or beverage, the dog and his age and the amount consumed. The best thing for your Doberman is to truly give the dog only dog treats and to avoid human food all the time. It saves you from stopping a pattern of begging too so stock up on extra dog bones and keep your food for you.

Here are some of the toxic food stuffs for Dobermans and dogs, there are many more...

Grapes, raisins, onions, garlic, macadamia nuts, chocolate (especially the dark and baking), potato peels, green potatoes, moldy and spoiled foods (you should avoid those too!), tomato leaves - stems - green parts, caffeine products like soda, coffee, tea, coffee grounds, coffee beans, yeast dough, beer hops, alcohol, tobacco and tobacco products (they're bad for you too!), broccoli, fast food (ok, I threw that one in after seeing Super Size Me - you should avoid fast food too [McDonald's, Wendy's, Burger King, KFC, Carl Jr's, etc - try In & Out if you need a fix, they prepare food for real] - at all cost avoid fast food french fries!), apple core pips, pear pips, peaches and apricots, plum kernels and the list goes on and on. Best to stay with dog treats for dogs! Hey, even some kibble from the regular food can be a treat to a dog.
